It is a regular day for Jennifer, a 17-year-old Chinese girl attending a boarding school in New York, until she receives the news of her grandfather’s death. Nights and Days in America is a coming-of-age story. It is about grief, about missing a homeland an ocean away, and about the unspeakable solitude shared by old and young expats. It tells the story of these two generations coming together, attempting to understand their past, present and future. In the end, it asks the questions - who can you be when your past forgets you? Where can you go when you have nowhere to call home?
